In organic chemistry, '''anilides''' (or '''phenylamides''') are a class of organic compounds with the general structure {{chem2|R\sC(\dO)\sN(\sR’)\sC6H5}}. They are amide derivatives of aniline ({{chem2|H2N\sC6H5}}).

==Preparation== Aniline reacts with acyl chlorides or carboxylic anhydrides to give anilides. For example, reaction of aniline with acetyl chloride provides acetanilide ({{chem2|CH3\sCO\sNH\sC6H5}}). At high temperatures, aniline and carboxylic acids react to give anilides.<ref>{{OrgSynth | author = Carl N.
