Erhard Krack (9 January 1931 – 13 December 2000) was a German politician and mayor of East Berlin from 1974 to 1990.

Life

Krack was born in Danzig on January 9, 1931.[1] In 1951, he joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). Between 1952 and 1956 Krack studied economics at the University of Rostock.[2]

In 1965, Krack became the Minister of Regional Industry and the Food Industry.[3]

In 1974, Krack became mayor of East Berlin, a post he would hold until 1990.[4]

He was also a deputy in the Volkskammer and a member of the Central Committee of the SED.
