This subfamily is also the largest within the family and comprises about 60 genera.
Members of the genus ''Chrysoperla'' and the genus ''Chrysopa'' in this subfamily are common in Europe and North America.<ref name=Pakistan>{{cite journal |last1= Shakir |first1=Hafiz Usman |last2= Anjum |first2=Najuf Awais |last3= Ali |first3=Qurban |last4= Saleem |first4=Shahzad |last5= Awais |first5=Muhammad |last6= Anwar |first6= Tauqir |date=2015 |title=Molecular systematics of ''Chrysoperla carnea'' group (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) in Punjab, Pakistan |journal= 2015Journal of Global Innovations in Agricultural and Social Sciences |volume=3 |issue=1 |pages=12–15 |url=https://jgiass.com/download.php?id=54_paper.pdf&&pg=issue |doi=10.17957/JGIASS/3.1.677 |s2cid=88722322 |accessdate=2022-01-24|doi-access=free |url-access=subscription }}</ref><ref name=Brooks&Barnard1990>{{cite journal| title = The green lacewings of the world: a generic review (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae)| date = 1990| last1 = Brooks | first1 = S.
