'''''Ancylanthos''''' was a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae but is no longer recognized. It was originally described by René Louiche Desfontaines in 1818.<ref name=Desfontaines1818>{{cite journal|author=Desfontaines RL|year=1818|title=Nouveau genre de la famille des Rubiacées: ''Ancylanthos''|journal=Mémoires du Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle|volume=4|pages=5–7}}</ref> In 2005, it was sunk into synonymy with ''Vangueria'', based on a phylogenetic study of DNA sequences.<ref name=Lantz2005>{{cite journal|author=Lantz H, Bremer B|year=2005|title=Phylogeny of the complex Vanguerieae (Rubiaceae) genera ''Fadogia'', ''Rytigynia'', and ''Vangueria'' with close relatives and a new circumscription of ''Vangueria''|journal=Plant Systematics and Evolution|volume=253|issue=1–4|pages=159–183|doi=10.1007/s00606-005-0313-9|s2cid=30867982}}</ref>

Desfontaines established the genus for the single species ''rubiginosa''. By 1995 it also included the four species ''lactiflorus'', ''monteiroi'', ''rhodesiacus'', and ''rogersii'', which Bridson considered should be moved to other genera.<ref>{{cite journal | author=Diane M.
