'''Black Peaks''' were an English rock band from Brighton.

==History== The band formed in 2012, initially under the name ''Shrine'', and released a debut self-released EP ''Closer to the Sun'' in 2014.<ref name="Independent - Black Peaks">{{Cite news|url=http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/black-peaks-statues-exclusive-album-stream-a6969086.html|title=Black Peaks – Statues: Exclusive Album Stream|date=April 5, 2016|newspaper=The Independent}}</ref><ref name="bn1 - Black Peaks">{{Cite web|url=https://www.bn1magazine.co.uk/black-peaks-interview/|title=Black Peaks Interview|first=Freya|last=Hughes|website=Bn1magazine.co.uk|date=May 8, 2015}}</ref>

After a run of UK and European festivals and tours, the band signed to RED Music for the release of their debut album ''Statues'' in 2016.

The album was well received, and singles 'Glass Built Castles' and 'Saviour' brought the band support from Zane Lowe, Daniel P. Carter and daytime airplay on BBC Radio 1.<ref name="Artrocker - 'Statues' Review">{{cite web|title=Artrocker - 'Statues' Review|url=http://artrockermagazine.com/black-peaks-statues/|website=Artrocker.magazine.com}}</ref><ref name="With Guitars - 'Glass Built Castles' Video Preview">{{Cite web|url=https://www.withguitars.com/black-peaks-reveal-brand-new-video-single-glass-built-castles/|title=BLACK PEAKS reveal brand new video for single 'Glass Built Castles'|website=WithGuitars.com|date=19 February 2016 }}</ref>

This increased profile resulted in a busy touring schedule across 2016-2017, including dates supporting Deftones, System of a Down, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Prophets of Rage and Mastodon.<ref name="Independent - 2000 Trees Preview">{{Cite news|url=http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/2000trees-the-essential-bands-of-this-years-festival-a7822001.html|title=The 15 most essential bands of 2000Trees 2017|date=July 4, 2017|newspaper=The Independent}}</ref>

Towards the end of 2017, the band announced that they had parted ways with bassist Andrew Gosden, replaced with new member Dave Larkin,<ref name="Dead Press - Black Peaks Part Ways with Bassist">{{cite web|title=Dead Press - Black Peaks Part Ways with Bassist|url=http://www.deadpress.co.uk/76883/news-black-peaks-part-ways-with-bassist-andrew-gosden|website=Deadpress.co.uk}}</ref> and were at the time in the studio recording their second album, titled ''All That Divides''. ''All That Divides'' was released in October 2018.

In January 2019, Black Peaks supported UK group Enter Shikari on their second leg of the Stop the Clocks tour.<ref>{{Cite tweet|user=blackpeaks|number=1083719984554131456|title=Tweet}} {{dead link|date=May 2024}}</ref>

On 26 July 2021, the band announced that they have decided to break up, citing that they "have reached a point where we don't feel we can continue in a way that is healthy for us."<ref>[https://www.deadpress.co.uk/news-black-peaks-break-up/ Black Peaks break up] deadpress.co.uk {{dead link|date=May 2024}}</ref>
