Founded in 2001, the group is known for their loud support, creative tifos, and frequent use of flares.

== History == The group was founded by Alpaslan Dikmen and around 60 others on 20 January 2001, following Galatasaray's success in the 1999–2000 UEFA Cup and 2000 UEFA Super Cup. Various smaller groups of Galatasaray fans had decided that the team needed a large, organised fan group, which eventually led to the establishment of ultrAslan.<ref>{{Cite web |title="Sporda Şiddetin Önüne Geçilebilir" - SporStüdyo.com |url=http://www.sporstudyo.com/Roportaj/961/Sporda-Siddetin-Onune-Gecilebilir.html |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090322154904/http://www.sporstudyo.com/Roportaj/961/Sporda-Siddetin-Onune-Gecilebilir.html |archive-date=2009-03-22 |access-date=2026-05-02 |website=www.sporstudyo.com |language=tr}}</ref> The founders held their first meeting at the InterContinental hotel in Taksim Square, where they exchanged ideas about the group's development.<ref>{{Cite AV media |url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC0CeG0TasY |title=ultrAslan Nasıl Kuruldu ? |date=2011-12-15 |last=ultrAslan |access-date=2026-05-02 |via=YouTube}}</ref>

ultrAslan displayed its first major tifo on 14 February 2001, during a UEFA Champions League match against Deportivo La Coruña at Ali Sami Yen Stadium. A banner reading "Only You" was displayed in the stands, in reference to Valentine's Day and the fans' devotion for the club.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Tunca |first=Meriç |date=16 January 2007 |title=ultrAslan Fırtınası |url=https://arsiv.takvim.com.tr/2007/01/16/spo129.html |website=Takvim}}</ref> Throughout the 2000s, ultrAslan continued its support for the club through chants, crowded away stands, and visual displays, which were particularly prominent during fixtures against Turkish rivals and in European competitions.

Dikmen served as the general coordinator of ultrAslan until his accidental death in a traffic collision on 27 September 2008.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2008-09-27 |title=Galatasaray'ın tribün liderlerinden Alpaslan Dikmen öldü |url=https://www.milliyet.com.tr/gundem/galatasarayin-tribun-liderlerinden-alpaslan-dikmen-oldu-996611 |access-date=2026-05-01 |website=Milliyet |language=tr}}</ref> Following his death, Ahmet Aytaç assumed the role of general coordinator before being succeeded by Oğuz Altay, who resigned from the role in 2013.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Genel Koordinatörlük {{!}} Görev Değişikliği |url=http://www.ultraslan.com/Oku.asp?okuID=1896 |access-date=2026-05-04 |website=www.ultraslan.com}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |date=2020-07-01 |title=UltrAslan'da şok istifa! |url=https://www.milliyet.com.tr/skorer/ultraslanda-sok-istifa-1668116 |access-date=2026-05-04 |website=Milliyet |language=tr}}</ref> It is unclear who, if anyone, has held the position since.
