In Cambodian cuisine, '''''num pang''''' ({{langx|km|នំបុ័ង}} {{IPA|km|num paŋ|}}; from {{langx|fr|pain}} – "bread") is a short baguette with thin, crisp crust and soft, airy texture. It is often split lengthwise and filled with savory ingredients like a submarine sandwich and served as a meal, called ''num pang sach'' ({{lang|km|នំបុ័ងសាច់}} {{IPA|km|num paŋ sac|}}; {{literal translation|bread with meat}}). It is similar to Laos's ''khao jee pâté'' and Vietnam's ''bánh mì''.

==History== Baguettes were adopted into Cambodian cuisine from the French when Cambodia was a protectorate in French Indochina.<ref>{{cite book |last1=Rivière |first1=Joannès |authorlink1=Joannès Rivière |date=2008 |title=Cambodian Cooking: A humanitarian project in collaboration with Act for Cambodia |publisher=Periplus Editions |page=21 |isbn=978-0-794-65039-1}}</ref>

More recently, ''num pang'' has spread outside of Cambodia with eateries specializing in ''num pang'' opened in cities, such as New York,<ref>{{cite web |last=Kludt |first=Amanda |date=23 June 2011 |title=Num Pang Sandwich Shop Now Open in Midtown |url=https://ny.eater.com/2011/6/23/6673453/num-pang-sandwich-shop-now-open-in-midtown |website=Eater |accessdate=5 August 2023}}</ref> Washington,<ref>{{cite news |last=Jones |first=Caroline |title=The 'Wiching Hour: Maketto's Cambodian "Num Pang" Pork Sandwich |date=7 May 2015 |url=https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/332840/the-wiching-hour-makettos-cambodian-num-pang-pork-sandwich/ |newspaper=Washington City Paper |accessdate=5 August 2023}}</ref> Boston,<ref>{{cite news |last=Cain |first=Jacqueline |title=Num Pang Lands in Boston This Week |date=9 May 2017 |url=https://www.bostonmagazine.com/restaurants/2017/05/09/num-pang-boston-open/ |newspaper=Boston |accessdate=5 August 2023}}</ref> and Melbourne.<ref>{{cite web |title=Kampot Kitchen shares Cambodian culture through num pang baguettes |url=https://seasonedtraveller.com/places/cambodian-num-pang-melbourne |website=Seasoned Traveller |accessdate=5 August 2023}}</ref>
