The line acts as a shuttle connecting Cascina Gobba Station on Line 2 of the Milan Metro with the nearby San Raffaele Hospital. Half of the line is underground as it passes through the San Raffaele Hospital complex. The line uses cable propulsion<ref>{{cite web |title=Public Transport - Cable |url=https://atminternational.com/public-transport#tab-5-48 |website=atminternational.com |publisher=ATM |access-date=29 May 2026 |language=en}}</ref> and has a top speed of 36 km/h.<ref>{{cite book |last1=Dalla Chiara |first1=Bruno |title=An automated people mover (APM) with cable traction and network structure |page=6 |url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/298059184_An_automated_people_mover_APM_with_cable_traction_and_network_structure |access-date=29 May 2026}}</ref>

In 2024 the line was suspended for extensive renovation but it is unknown when it will be working again.<ref>[https://www.atm.it/it/ViaggiaConNoi/InfoTraffico/Pagine/melamaggio.aspx]</ref>
