Six singles were released from the album. The first song she wrote was "Objection (Tango)" and in an interview with ''Faze'', she revealed that writing songs in English proved to be challenging for her: "I prayed and asked God to send me a good song today, and I remember I started writing the song ['Objection (Tango)'] a couple of hours after. Shakira made a promotional trip to Brazil to promote ''Laundry Service'', where she appeared on ''Altas Horas'' (22 November), ''Caldeirão do Huck'' (23 November), ''Superpositivo'' (24 November), at ''Domingo Legal'' (25 November) and ''Programa Hebe'', in Osasco, Brazil.
Shakira returned to the United States to perform "Whenever, Wherever" on NBC's ''Saturday Night Live'' in 1 December and on the ''Live with Regis and Kelly'' in New York City in 7 December. Shakira was also part of the ''Y100 Jingle Ball'' at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, on 16 December and at ''KISS FM's Jingle Ball'' at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in 19 December. She also made a brief appearance to perform "Whenever, Wherever" at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City in 18 December.

Shakira performed "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes" at Miss Turkey 2002 on 14 March, she continued her ''Laundry Service'' promotion as she held a concert in Istanbul, Turkey on 15 March, performing her international singles "Ojos Así", "Underneath Your Clothes", and "Whenever, Wherever".

To promote ''Laundry Service'', Shakira embarked on the Tour of the Mongoose from 2002 to 2003. At the same time Shakira's album evoked sharp criticism by a number of authors.
