===Handelsblatt Today===

An English-language digital edition was launched in 2014, called ''Handelsblatt Global Edition'', which aimed to reach an international audience interested in German business and finance news. It was published five days a week from its editorial office in Berlin with editor-in-chief, Kevin O'Brien at the helm.<ref>{{cite web|title="Handelsblatt" bringt englischsprachige Ausgabe an den Start|trans-title=Handelsblatt launches English-language edition|url=http://www.focus.de/regional/duesseldorf/medien-handelsblatt-bringt-englischsprachige-ausgabe-an-den-start_id_4208399.html|website=Focus Online|publisher=Hubert Burda Media|access-date=7 July 2015|language=de}}</ref> In 2017, under a new editor-in-chief, Andreas Kluth, the publication avoided the direct translation of German-language articles and instead worked through differences between German and Anglophone journalistic traditions to add details that English readers were accustomed to.<ref>{{cite web | last = Kluth | first = Andreas | title = Farewell: What I learned about journalism while running Handelsblatt Today | website = Handelsblatt Today | publisher = Handelsblatt GmbH | date = 27 Feb 2019 | url = https://www.handelsblatt.com/today/opinion/farewell-what-i-learned-about-journalism-while-running-handelsblatt-today/24044312.html | archive-url = https://archive.today/20191205161119/https://www.handelsblatt.com/today/opinion/farewell-what-i-learned-about-journalism-while-running-handelsblatt-today/24044312.html?ticket=ST-12787944-06mAdKeIaNDxDWRP4XDI-ap4 | archive-date = 5 December 2019 | access-date = 5 Dec 2019 | url-status = live }}</ref> The site was renamed ''Handelsblatt Today'' in 2018, but, unable to create a business model and reach a substantial audience to generate revenue, Kluth announced that publication would cease on 27 February 2019.<ref>{{cite web | last = Kluth | first = Andreas | title = Handelsblatt Today: About us | website = Handelsblatt Today | publisher = Handelsblatt GmbH | date = 1 Nov 2018 | url = https://www.handelsblatt.com/today/handelsblatt-today-about-us/23643540.html | archive-url=https://archive.today/20191205184127/https://www.handelsblatt.com/today/handelsblatt-today-about-us/23643540.html?ticket=ST-13202943-lwDUEf9E7Q6k3BXM4AP1-ap4 | archive-date = 5 December 2019 | access-date = 5 Dec 2019 }}</ref>

=== Anti-Vaccine controversy === On the 25th of January 2021, Handelsblatt published an unsourced story falsely claiming that the Oxford-Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine was only 8% effective in over 65's. Astrazeneca and the University of Oxford issued statements denying these claims.<ref>{{Cite web|title=AstraZeneca says reports of 8% coronavirus vaccine efficacy in seniors are 'incorrect'|url=https://globalnews.ca/news/7598547/astrazeneca-coronavirus-vaccine-reports-incorrect/|access-date=2021-01-26|website=Global News|language=en-US}}</ref><ref>{{Cite journal|last=Boytchev|first=Hristio|date=2021-02-12|title=Why did a German newspaper insist the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine was inefficacious for older people—without evidence?|url=https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n414|journal=BMJ|language=en|volume=372|pages=n414|doi=10.1136/bmj.n414|issn=1756-1833|pmid=33579678|doi-access=free}}</ref> This story was refuted by the German Health Ministry which clarified that 8% actually referred to the number of people in the study between 56 and 69 years old.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/german-paper-s-oxford-vaccine-muddle|access-date=2021-01-26|website=www.spectator.co.uk|title=German paper's excruciating Oxford vaccine muddle|publisher=The Spectator}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|title=Pandemie-Bekämpfung: Rückschlag bei Corona-Impfstoff: Astra-Zeneca-Vakzin wirkt bei Senioren offenbar kaum|trans-title=Pandemic control: Setback for coronavirus vaccine: AstraZeneca vaccine appears to have little effect on seniors|url=https://www.handelsblatt.com/politik/deutschland/pandemie-bekaempfung-rueckschlag-bei-corona-impfstoff-astra-zeneca-vakzin-wirkt-bei-senioren-offenbar-kaum/26849788.html|access-date=2021-01-26|website=www.handelsblatt.com|language=de}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|last=Barnes|first=Joe|date=2021-01-26|title=German Health Ministry DENIES bombshell vaccine claims – says Berlin paper messed up stats|url=https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1389082/oxford-vaccine-Astrazeneca-covid-German-Health-Ministry-efficacy-claim-stats-latest|access-date=2021-01-26|website=Express.co.uk|language=en}}</ref> Markus Lehmkuhl, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology's Professor for Science Communication, stated that Handelsblatt "turned the matter into a 'he says, she says' story to absolve itself of responsibility for spreading stupid stuff."<ref>{{Cite journal|url=https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n414|doi = 10.1136/bmj.n414|title = Why did a German newspaper insist the Oxford Astra ''Zeneca'' vaccine was inefficacious for older people—without evidence?|year = 2021|last1 = Boytchev|first1 = Hristio|journal = BMJ|volume = 372|pages = n414|pmid = 33579678|s2cid = 231884653|doi-access = free}}</ref>
