It is made from boiled lengkuas ({{lang|msk|pal'la}}, {{lang|msk|palla}}, {{lang|msk|panla}}, or {{lang|msk|pangla}} in Mansaka) mixed with honey or sugarcane juice which are then fermented in tightly sealed earthen jars ({{lang|msk|tadyaw}}).
