== History == [[File:Bandcamp office.jpg|thumb|Bandcamp office and record store in Oakland, California]] Bandcamp was founded in 2008 by Oddpost co-founder Ethan Diamond (CEO) and programmers Shawn Grunberger (CFO), Joe Holt and Neal Tucker. In 2019, Bandcamp opened its first office and record store in Oakland, California.<ref name="kqed" />
In 2010, the site enabled embedding in other websites and shared links on social media sites.<ref>{{cite web |date=10 September 2010 |title=Full Tracklist Players, Facebook Love |url=http://blog.bandcamp.com/2010/09/09/full-tracklist-players-facebook-love/ |access-date=2014-06-19 |publisher=The Bandcamp Blog |archive-date=May 21, 2014 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140521235609/http://blog.bandcamp.com/2010/09/09/full-tracklist-players-facebook-love/ |url-status=live }}</ref>

In November 2020, Bandcamp launched Bandcamp Live, a ticketed live-streaming service for artists. The service is an integrated feature of the Bandcamp website. Fees on tickets were waived until March 31, 2021, and became 10% from then.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Yoo |first=Noah |date=November 17, 2020 |title=Bandcamp Launches New Livestreaming Service for Artists |url=https://pitchfork.com/news/bandcamp-launches-new-livestreaming-service-for-artists/ |website=Pitchfork |access-date=November 17, 2020 |archive-date=November 17, 2020 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20201117164959/https://pitchfork.com/news/bandcamp-launches-new-livestreaming-service-for-artists/ |url-status=live }}</ref><ref>{{Cite magazine |last=Tatiana |first=Cirisano |date=November 17, 2020 |title=Here's How Bandcamp's New Livestreaming Platform Stacks Up |url=https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/9485366/bandcamp-live-livestreaming-platform-ticketed/ |magazine=Billboard |access-date=November 17, 2020 |archive-date=November 18, 2020 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20201118033856/https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/9485366/bandcamp-live-livestreaming-platform-ticketed/ |url-status=live }}</ref>
Bandcamp provides vinyl pressing services for artists. After a 50-artist pilot in 2020, the company opened limited access to 10,000 artists in early 2021 with plans for further expansion. Their fans preorder the pressing rather than having the artist fund it upfront. Bandcamp lets artists set their own price. The company's two million vinyl sales in 2020 doubled that of 2019.<ref>{{Cite magazine |last1=Millman |first1=Ethan |date=2021-01-14 |title=Bandcamp Will Make Vinyl Records For You |url=https://www.rollingstone.com/pro/news/bandcamp-vinyl-pressing-service-indie-music-1114800/ |magazine=Rolling Stone |language=en-US |access-date=2021-05-20 |df=mdy-all |archive-date=June 18, 2021 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210618062632/https://www.rollingstone.com/pro/news/bandcamp-vinyl-pressing-service-indie-music-1114800/ |url-status=live }}</ref>
