It flows north past Kyondaw, Phadaw, Apalon, Kanni, Kyungyaung, Danon, Kyain Seikgyi, and Chaunghanakwa, where it flows into Mon State. The Zami River is a tributary of the Ataran River, which, on a grander scale, is part of the Salween River Basin.
