This style of pottery is characterized by pinched, raised decoration, plain raised and raised and impressed lines.<ref name=Portal27>Portal 2000, p.27</ref>

This style of pottery has been found in northeast Korea<ref name=Portal27/> in addition to other regions. Some sites at which yunggimun pottery have been found include [[Sangnodaedo]] (island located in [[:ko:욕지면|Yokjimyeon]] [[Tongyeong]]), [[:ko:양양 오산리 유적|Osan-ri]] (in [[:ko:손양면|Sonyangmyeon]], [[Yangyang County]]) and [[:ko:동삼동|Dongsam-dong]] (at [[Yeongdo District]], [[Busan]]).<ref name=Nelson>Nelson, p. 34–35</ref>
