The conference sponsored men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, co-ed soccer, men's tennis, and men's golf.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Tennis |url=http://www.wccwis.org/page/show/1991069-tennis |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160123031524/http://www.wccwis.org/page/show/1991069-tennis |url-status=usurped |archive-date=January 23, 2016 |access-date=2020-06-05 |website=Wisconsin Collegiate Conference |language=en-us}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=Golf |url=http://www.wccwis.org/page/show/2112074-golf |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160111014350/http://www.wccwis.org/page/show/2112074-golf |url-status=usurped |archive-date=January 11, 2016 |access-date=2020-06-05 |website=Wisconsin Collegiate Conference |language=en-us}}</ref> All schools were junior colleges and athletes were only eligible for two years.

In 2020, after all schools suspended athletic events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WCC went on hiatus. Ahead of the 2021–22 season, the satellite campuses of UW-Green Bay, UW-Oshkosh, and UW-Stevens Point formed a new conference, the Wisconsin Competitive Sports League.<ref>{{Cite web |last= |first= |date=2021-04-13 |title=Athletics returns to two-year campuses for UWO, UWGB and UWSP |url=https://uwosh.edu/today/96056/athletics-returns-to-two-year-campus-for-uwo-uwgb-and-uwsp/ |access-date=2023-10-18 |website=UW Oshkosh Today |language=en-US}}</ref>

The WCC returned for the 2023–24 season, with only the Oshkosh, Stevens Point, Whitewater, and Platteville campuses returning (apart from Platteville's Richland campus, which closed in 2023). The only sports that returned were volleyball and men's basketball.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Sports |url=http://www.wccwis.com/page/show/8007293-sports |access-date=2023-10-18 |website=Wisconsin Collegiate Conference |language=en-us}}</ref> The junior varsity men's basketball squad at Bryant & Stratton College's Wisconsin campuses also joined, becoming the first campus outside the UW System to join the conference.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Men's Basketball |url=http://www.wccwis.com/page/show/8007300-men-s-basketball |access-date=2023-10-18 |website=Wisconsin Collegiate Conference |language=en-us}}</ref>

Following the season, the league quietly folded as UW-Oshkosh's Fond du Lac campus closed, while Whitewater's Rock County campus left for the NJCAA and added more sports.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Competitive Sports {{!}} UW-Whitewater at Rock County |url=https://www.uww.edu/rock/students/competitive-sports/volleyball |access-date=2024-11-10 |website=www.uww.edu}}</ref> Among the other final members, Stevens Point at Wausau disbanded their athletic program as they prepared to move operations to Northcentral Technical College,<ref>{{Cite web |title=UW-Stevens Point partners with community college to shore up struggling branch {{!}} Higher Ed Dive |url=https://www.highereddive.com/news/uw-stevens-point-partners-with-community-college-to-shore-up-struggling-bra/760060/ |access-date=2025-10-09 |website=www.highereddive.com |language=en-US}}</ref> Oshkosh's Fox Cities campus closed in 2025, and Stevens Point at Marshfield and Platteville Baraboo Sauk County joined other Wisconsin schools to re-form the Wisconsin Competitive Sports League.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2024-11-26 |title=#24 Madison College dominates UW-SP at Marshfield, extends win streak to six |url=https://madisoncollegeathletics.com/news/2024/11/27/mens-basketball-24-madison-college-dominates-uw-sp-at-marshfield-extends-win-streak-to-six.aspx |access-date=2025-10-09 |website=Madison College Athletics |language=en}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=Marauder Men’s Basketball 2024-2025 |url=https://www.uwsp.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Marauders-24-25-Roster-1st-Semester.pdf |access-date=2025-10-09 |website=UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield}}</ref>
