William Morritt

{{Use dmy dates|date=February 2025}} {{Use British English|date=August 2016}} '''William John Sawrey Morritt''' (''c.'' 1813 – 13 April 1874)<ref name="rayment">{{Rayment-hc|y|date=March 2012}}</ref> was a British Conservative Party<ref name="craig1832-1885" /> politician from Rokeby,<ref name="gazette-1862" /> which was then in Yorkshire but is now in County Durham.

He was elected as a member of parliament (MP) for the North Riding of Yorkshire at a by-election in March 1862,<ref name="gazette-1862">{{London Gazette |issue= 22611 |date = 25 March 1862 |page=1617 }}</ref> following the death of the Liberal MP Edward Stillingfleet Cayley. He held the seat until the 1865 general election,<ref name="rayment" /> when he was defeated by the Liberal Frederick Milbank.<ref name="craig1832-1885">{{cite book |last=Craig |first=F. W.
