One of the first large-scale international athletics events (outside the Summer Olympics), it is sometimes referred to as the one-day Olympics. With a budget of about ten million Swiss francs, Weltklasse Zürich ranks among the most expensive events in athletics. Every year, it draws around 25,000 fans to Letzigrund Stadium, with competitions broadcast in up to 135 countries.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Weltklasse Zürich - IAAF Diamond League Serie |url=https://www.swisstopsport.ch/de/events/weltklasse-zuerich |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230707161505/https://www.swisstopsport.ch/de/events/weltklasse-zuerich |archive-date=2023-07-07 |access-date=2024-12-28 |website=www.swisstopsport.ch |language=de-DE |url-status=live }}</ref> Since 2014, Christoph Joho and Andreas Hediger have led the organization as co-directors.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2017-08-22 |title=Ein Herz mit zwei Seelen |url=https://www.derbund.ch/ein-herz-mit-zwei-seelen-283342429893 |access-date=2024-12-28 |website=Der Bund |language=de}}</ref><ref>{{Cite news |date=2013-08-28 |title=Wechsel in Meetingdirektion |url=https://www.nzz.ch/sport/wechsel-in-meetingdirektion-ld.714840 |access-date=2024-12-28 |work=Neue Zürcher Zeitung |language=de-CH |issn=0376-6829}}</ref>
