'''Volt Denmark — Denmark's European Party''' ({{langx|da|Volt Danmark — Danmarks Europaparti}}), known simply as '''Volt Denmark''', is a social liberal political party in Denmark, and the Danish chapter of the pan-European political movement Volt Europa.

== Policies ==

=== Security policy === In order to combat cross-border crime, Volt supports a closer integration of Denmark into the Europol structures and criticises in an open letter the previous Danish policy, which instead relied on bilateral agreements with neighbouring states. By abolishing border controls and closer European cooperation of police authorities, freed resources should be used to better fight terrorism, illegal migration and international crime.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Europæisk parti: Udnyt pro-europæisk momentum og gå fuldt ind i EU |url=https://www.altinget.dk/eu/artikel/volt-europa-drop-retsforbeholdet-for-et-mere-samlet-eu |access-date=2022-07-25 |website=EU |date=30 October 2019 |language=da-DK}}</ref>

The party supported the lifting of the defence opt-out in June 2022, cautioning against relying solely on the US for security, with reference to Donald Trump, and campaigned for more European cooperation and the development of a Danish vision for the European Union.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2022-05-30 |title=Forsvarsforbeholdet har vist behovet for en ny fortælling om Danmark i Europa |url=https://piopio.dk/forsvarsforbeholdet-har-vist-behovet-en-ny-fortaelling-om-danmark-i-europa |access-date=2022-07-25 |website=Netavisen Pio |language=da}}</ref>

=== Climate protection and energy policy === Volt calls for the expansion of the European electricity grid to strengthen the exchange of renewable wind and solar energy. The party supported the inclusion of nuclear power in the EU's green taxonomy, but criticised the fact that fossil natural gas was also classified as sustainable and that European energy policy is oriented towards national interests. The party, on the other hand, sees the need for a common European strategy in moving away from fossil fuels. Denmark should lift the ban on building nuclear power plants on Danish soil and participate in research on modern nuclear technology.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Richter |first=Kathrine |date=2022-07-12 |title=Green nuclear power is good – will Denmark dare to admit it? |url=https://www.euractiv.com/section/energy/opinion/green-nuclear-power-is-good-will-denmark-dare-to-admit-it/ |access-date=2022-07-25 |website=www.euractiv.com |language=en-GB}}</ref>

Danish shipping is to become climate neutral by 2030 and global influence in the shipping industry is to be used to advance the goals agreed at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. To this end, public-private partnerships are to be formed to also reduce emissions in supply chains.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2022-02-18 |title=Kathrine Richter: Mette Frederiksen går all-in på klimaet, men hendes troværdighed er på stemmesedlen til næste valg |url=https://www.raeson.dk/2022/kathrine-richter-mette-frederiksen-gaar-all-in-paa-klimaet-men-hendes-trovaerdighed-er-paa-stemmesedlen-til-naeste-valg/ |access-date=2022-07-25 |website=RÆSON |language=da-DK}}</ref>

=== Rule of law === To protect the rule of law, ensure that the government acts lawfully and that new laws do not violate the constitution, Volt calls for the establishment of a permanent, impartial judicial body modelled on Germany's Constitutional Court.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2022-01-10 |title=Debat: Opret et juridisk organ, der løbende holder øje med, om politikerne handler ulovligt |url=https://www.information.dk/debat/2022/01/opret-juridisk-organ-loebende-holder-oeje-politikerne-handler-ulovligt |access-date=2022-07-25 |website=Information |language=da}}</ref>

=== Human rights === The party supports the protests of women in Iran against the Iranian regime and for freedom and democracy.<ref>{{Cite web |title=VOLT og Europæisk Ungdom tog initiativ til Iran-demonstration i Sønderborg {{!}} SønderborgNYT |url=https://www.sonderborgnyt.dk/volt-tog-initiativ-til-iran-demonstration-i-soenderborg/ |access-date=2022-11-21 |website=www.sonderborgnyt.dk}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=Kom og vis din støtte til Irans kvinder {{!}} SønderborgNYT |url=https://www.sonderborgnyt.dk/kom-og-vis-din-stoette-til-irans-kvinder/ |access-date=2022-11-21 |website=www.sonderborgnyt.dk}}</ref>

=== Economic policy === The party is committed to targeting foreign workers to meet labour needs and drive the green transformation of the economy. To this end, cities should not only be made attractive places to live and work for international workers, but jobs should also be advertised on the pan-European job portal EURES.<ref>{{Cite web |last1=Larsen |first1=Frederik |last2=Volt |first2=City Lead i Aarhus for partiet |date=2022-12-16 |title=Kommunen gør ikke noget for at skaffe udenlandsk arbejdskraft: Kan Aarhus virkelig ikke gøre det bedre? |url=https://stiften.dk/artikel/kommunen-g%C3%B8r-ikke-noget-for-at-skaffe-udenlandsk-arbejdskraft-kan-aarhus-virkelig-ikke-g%C3%B8re-det-bedre |access-date=2022-12-17 |website=stiften.dk |language=da}}</ref>

== History == The party was formed in May 2018 and incorporated on 21 July 2018.<ref>{{cite web|title=Volt Europa: Vi er det pan-europæiske parti, du ikke vidste, du savnede|periodical=|publisher=|url=https://www.altinget.dk/eu/artikel/volt-europa-vi-er-det-pan-europaeiske-parti-du-ikke-vidste-du-savnede|url-status=|format=|access-date=2022-04-17|archive-url=|archive-date=|last=|date=8 August 2018|language=da|pages=|quote=}}</ref><ref name=":0">{{cite web|title=Dansker fører belgisk valgkamp for plads i EU-Parlamentet|periodical=|publisher=|url=https://www.kristeligt-dagblad.dk/udland/dansker-foerer-belgisk-valgkamp-plads-i-eu-parlamentet|url-status=|format=|access-date=2021-11-11|archive-url=|archive-date=|last=Ritzau|date=2019-05-06|language=da|pages=|quote=}}</ref> Ina Hoogeland and Frederik Larsen were party leaders and Mathieu Pouletty was the treasurer. In the run-up to the 2019 European elections, Volt failed to meet the signature hurdle and did not collect enough supporting signatures to be eligible for the election.

In November 2021, the party contested an election for the first time in the municipal elections in Frederiksberg.<ref>{{cite web|title=Kandidater til Kommunalvalget 2021|periodical=|publisher=|url=https://www.voltdanmark.org/frederiksberg/kv21-kandidater|url-status=dead|format=|access-date=2021-11-11|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211111234634/https://www.voltdanmark.org/frederiksberg/kv21-kandidater|archive-date=2021-11-11|last=|date=|year=|language=da|pages=|quote=}}</ref> It did not achieve a mandate.<ref>{{cite web|title=Kommunalvalg Frederiksberg Kommune|periodical=|publisher=|url=https://kmdvalg.dk/KV/2021/K84982147.htm|url-status=|format=|access-date=2021-11-18|archive-url=|archive-date=|last=|date=|year=|language=|pages=|quote=}}</ref>
