Vern Rutsala

{{Short description|American poet}} '''Vern Rutsala''' (February 5, 1934 – April 2, 2014) was an American poet. Born in McCall, Idaho,<ref>{{cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=D8ffAAAAMAAJ&q=Vern+Rutsala+1934 |title=Contemporary Poets - Google Books |date=2009-08-14 |access-date=2014-04-30}}</ref> he was educated at Reed College (B.A.) and the Iowa Writers' Workshop (M.F.A.). He taught English and creative writing at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon for more than forty years, before retiring in 2004. He also taught for short periods at the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State University, University of Redlands, and the University of Idaho, and served in the U.S. Army, 1956–58.
