==History==
===Origin===
The Velichie party was founded in summer 2023 in Vetrino Municipality. It has been reported that the founder was Ivelin Mihaylov.<ref name=":2">{{Cite web |date=2024-04-10 |title=Нова партия се устреми към русофилския вот, начело с Ивелин Михайлов и Николай Марков |url=https://boulevardbulgaria.bg/articles/ne-e-hubavo-no-samo-za-pred-publika-ivelin-mihaylov-i-polk-nikolay-markov-shte-se-yavyavat-na-evroizborite |access-date=2024-06-09 |website=Boulevard Bulgaria|language=bg}}</ref> In an interview with Radio Free Europe, Mihaylov recounted that the party was founded by Vetrino locals in response to plans to build a wind energy production site in the municipality.<ref>{{Cite web |title= Ивелин Михайлов и Полковника. The party contested the 2023 Bulgarian local elections, in which it gained 40.51% of the votes in Vetrino.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Коя е партията "Величие" и откъде изгря новата "патриотична" звезда? |url=https://clubz.bg/150595 |access-date=2024-06-09 |website=clubz.bg |language=bg}}</ref>

===Parliamentary activity===
The Velichie party had 13 seats at the start of the 50th National Assembly, with Nikolay Markov being selected as the chair of the parliamentary group.
Prior to the convention of the National Assembly, Markov did not deny the possibility of Velichie negotiating with GERB; however, he clarified that they would only negotiate with GERB leader Boyko Borisov.<ref>{{Cite web |title= Николай Марков: След като г-н Борисов има най-голямата подкрепа в България, аз съм длъжен да го изслушам и след това да взема решение |url=https://www.btv.bg/shows/lice-v-lice/videos/nikolaj-markov-sled-kato-g-n-borisov-ima-naj-goljamata-podkrepa-v-balgarija-az-sam-dlazhen-da-go-izslusham-i-sled-tova-da-vzema-reshenie.html |access-date=2024-07-02 |website=BTV.Bg|language=bg}}</ref> Ultimately, the party did not attend the meeting organised by the GERB negotiation team on 18 June.
During the first session of the National Assembly, the Velichie parliamentary group nominated its own candidates for the position of Speaker, although both candidacies failed to gather support outside of the grouping.<ref>{{Cite web |title= "Величие" няма да подкрепи Назарян, ще предложи Юлиана Матеева за председател |url=https://www.24chasa.bg/bulgaria/article/18213697 |access-date=2024-07-02 |website=24Chasa.Bg|language=bg}}</ref> During the first session, Markov, the chief of the parliamentary group, arrived late; it was later alleged by Velichie MP Darin Georgiev that the reason for Markov's lateness was due to alleged attempts at blackmail by GERB.<ref>{{Cite web |title= Депутат: Бойко Борисов е виновен Николай Марков от "Величие" да закъснее за клетвата |url=https://clubz.bg/150956 |access-date=2024-07-02 |website=ClubZ.Bg|language=bg}}</ref> Markov, in the days following, seemed to confirm the allegations, stating that a contact group representing "three political parties" had threatened to release an audio tape implicating himself and the party's founder, Ivelin Mihaylov, if Velichie did not give political support to GERB.<ref>{{Cite web |title= Марков от ''Величие'' твърди, че му показали компромати, за да подкрепи Назарян и кабинета |url=https://offnews.bg/politika/markov-ot-velichie-tvardi-che-mu-pokazali-kompromati-za-da-podkr-825087.html |access-date=2024-07-02 |website=Offnews.Bg|language=bg}}</ref>

On 26 June, the party's representatives attended consultations with President Radev, during which they made clear their support for a government based on a clear programme, and stated that they would not support a GERB-led government due to a lack of communication from the largest party.<ref>{{Cite web |title="Величие" на първите си консултации при президента: Ние сме за програмно правителство |url=https://dariknews.bg/novini/bylgariia/velichie-na-pyrvite-si-konsultacii-pri-prezidenta-nie-sme-za-programno-pravitelstvo-2387113 |access-date=2024-07-02 |website=Dariknews.Bg|date=26 June 2024 |language=bg}}</ref>
On 1 July, shortly after the nomination of Rosen Zhelyazkov as GERB's PM candidate, a message was published on the social media platform X from the account of Ivelin Mihaylov calling on Velichie MPs to vote in favour of the proposed government.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Ивелин Михайлов: Ще препоръчам на "Величие" да подкрепи кабинета на Росен Желязков |url=https://zonanews.bg/politika/ivelin-mihaylov-shte-preporacham-na-velichie-da-podkrepi-kabineta-na-rosen-zhelyazkov|access-date=2024-07-02 |website=Zonanews.Bg|date=July 2024 |language=bg}}</ref> In a Facebook post, he clarified that his account on X was hacked and that his position that Velichie should vote against a government proposed by GERB had not changed.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Хакнат профил, после заплахи: Премеждията на Ивелин Михайлов и "Величие" преди вота на кабинета "Желязков" |url=https://www.mediapool.bg/haknat-profil-posle-zaplahi-premezhdiyata-na-ivelin-mihailov-i-velichie-predi-vota-na-kabineta-zhelyazkov-news360668.html|access-date=2024-07-02 |website=Mediapool.Bg|date=July 2024 |language=bg}}</ref>
Later that day, Mihaylov published a series of claims on Facebook alleging that Nikolay Markov and a group of MPs aligned with him (specifically Viktoria Vasileva) had threatened him and planned to vote in favour of the proposed GERB cabinet.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Нов скандал разтресе "Величие". On 3 July, Markov made a Facebook post in which he officially disassociated himself from the party, and further claimed that it was a political vehicle for Mihaylov's economic interests.<ref>{{Cite web |title= Николай Марков: "Величие" е само и единствено господин Ивелин Михайлов |url=https://www.bulnews.bg/article/467327|access-date=2024-07-03 |website=Bulnews.Bg|language=bg}}</ref>
Despite the allegations brought forth by Mihaylov, the entirety of the Velichie parliamentary group was present and voted against the nomination of Rosen Zhelyazkov for PM.<ref>{{Cite web |title= Дарин Георгиев: "Величие" ще гласува против кабинета "Желязков" |url=https://www.vesti.bg/bulgaria/darin-georgiev-velichie-shte-glasuva-protiv-kabineta-zheliazkov-6202706|access-date=2024-07-03 |website=Vesti.Bg|language=bg}}</ref>
Speaking to the party's supporters in Razgrad shortly after the vote, Mihaylov informed them that a vote was scheduled for 4 July to expel Markov and Vasileva from the parliamentary group.<ref name=":М">{{Cite web |title=Ивелин Михайлов: Марков и Василева вън или се цепим. In a statement to the media on 4 July, Markov claimed that the rift between him and Mihaylov had originated due to Mihaylov's insistence that the Velichie group cooperate with Revival.<ref name=":BTA">{{Cite web |title=Николай Марков каза, че Ивелин Михайлов е искал "Величие" да гласува с "Възраждане"|url=https://www.bta.bg/bg/news/bulgaria/702485-nikolay-markov-kaza-che-ivelin-mihaylov-e-iskal-velichie-da-glasuva-s-vazraz |access-date=2024-07-04 |website=BTA.bg |language=bg}}</ref> He further underlined Mihaylov's undue influence within the party, considering he was not part of the leadership.<ref name=":BTA" /> Ultimately, however, Markov indicated that he was open to leaving the parliamentary group, due to the presence of MPs within it who he alleged were controlled by Mihaylov through financial coercion.<ref name=":BTA" />

===October 2024 parliamentary election===
Velichie ran alone in the October 2024 Bulgarian parliamentary election. It opened its electoral campaign in the town of Troyan, with founder Ivelin Mihaylov claiming that Velichie's programme would be focused on creating a long-term plan for Bulgaria's development.<ref>{{Cite web |title= "Величие" откри предизборната си кампания в Троян |url=https://nova.bg/news/view/2024/09/27/471550/%D0%B2%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%B8%D1%87%D0%B8%D0%B5-%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B8-%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%B1%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B0-%D1%81%D0%B8-%D0%BA%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%8F-%D0%B2-%D1%82%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%8F%D0%BD/|access-date=2024-10-01 |website=Nova|language=bg}}</ref>
