==History== Varco was platted in 1875, and named for Thomas Varco, the original owner of the town site.<ref>{{cite book|last=Upham|first=Warren|title=Minnesota Geographic Names: Their Origin and Historic Significance|url=https://archive.org/details/minnesotageogra00uphagoog|year=1920|publisher=Minnesota Historical Society|page=[https://archive.org/details/minnesotageogra00uphagoog/page/n381 362]}}</ref> Thomas Varco was born in England and immigrated to Canada when he was four. He married Emaline Eddy,<ref>1870 United States Federal Census Austin, Mower County, Minnesota</ref> and in 1850 the two moved to Wisconsin.
