She is a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, from Thrikkakkara Assembly constituency in Ernakulam district representing Indian National Congress.

Thomas first became an MLA winning the 2022 Thrikkakara byelections with a margin of 25,016 votes, which were held due to the death of her husband P. T. She retained the seat for the Congress in the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly election from Thrikkakkara. She fell from 20 feet height from a temporary stage set up in the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium Kochi on 29 December 2024.
