It lies between the Ootatoor and Ariyalur Groups. It is broad in its southern extremity but thins as it gradually proceeds northwards as it ultimately meets the Ariyalur Group.<ref name="geology">{{cite book|title=Memoirs of the Geological Survey of India|pages=107–140|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=jLIEAAAAQAAJ|year=1865|publisher=Oxford University}}</ref> Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation.<ref name="cretaceousdistribution">Weishampel, David B; et al.
