{{Short description|International arts organisation}} {{Primary sources|date=February 2026}} {{Use dmy dates|date=October 2019}} {{use British English|date=November 2021}} '''The Triangle Network''', formally known as the '''Triangle Arts Trust''', is an international arts organisation that brings together artists from different countries to explore new ideas and expand the boundaries of their practice.
==History== The Triangle Network was established in 1982 by British businessman Robert Loder and sculptor Anthony Caro.<ref name=remix/> It was initiated through a series of artists' workshops providing an uninterrupted period of two weeks where 20–25 artists from diverse cultural backgrounds engage with each other, to explore new ideas and expand the boundaries of their practice.{{citation needed|date=November 2021}}
David Elliott was appointed to chair the board, succeeding Robert Loder who retired in 2009. Loder remained a trustee of the organization until 2012.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.artdaily.org/index.asp?int_sec=11&int_new=32071|title=Triangle Arts Trust Announced the Appointment of David Elliott as the Chair of the Board of Triangle Arts Trust|author=Ignacio Villarreal|work=artdaily.org|access-date=5 August 2015}}</ref>
==Description== The Triangle Network is organised as a network of artists, visual art organisations, and artists-led workshops. It currently is active in over 30 countries. Each centre within the Network is independent and set up to respond to local needs. The object of the workshops is "to counterbalance the tendency of the Western art world to put the emphasis on the object and its marketing rather than on the creative process itself".<ref name=remix>{{cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=rQbiP0M5tCUC&q=Triangle+Arts+Trust&pg=PA252|title=Africa Remix|isbn=9781770093638|access-date=5 August 2015|last1=Simon|first1=Njami|year=2007 |publisher=Jacana Media }}</ref>
It coalesces grassroots arts organisations around the world (many of which were initiated as workshops while others grew independently), so that artists' mobility, international cultural exchange and capacity building objectives can be shared.{{citation needed|date=November 2021}}
The Triangle Network is registered as a charitable organisation in the UK as the Triangle Arts Trust.<ref>{{cite web | title=Triangle Arts Trust - Charity 326411 | website=Charity Commission for England and Wales| url=https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-search/-/charity-details/326411/charity-overview | access-date=14 November 2021}}</ref>
