Tony Karon

He became a senior online executive producer for Al Jazeera America in 2013. Karon grew up Jewish in South Africa and identified as a Zionist.<ref>https://www.jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk/article/why-south-africa-has-brought-the-case-against-israel/</ref> He moved to New York City in 1993.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://atlanticfreepress.com/home/profiles/userprofile/tonykaron.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110707183303/http://atlanticfreepress.com/home/profiles/userprofile/tonykaron.html|url-status=usurped|archive-date=7 July 2011|title=Tony Karon|publisher=Atlantic Free Press|accessdate=3 September 2010}}</ref> He studied at the University of Cape Town, and in the 1980s, he was a prominent anti-apartheid activist in student movement NUSAS.

He joined TIME Magazine in 1997, and was a senior editor for close to 20 years, providing commentary on world affairs.<ref name="time-bio" /> He had previously worked as an activist for the banned African National Congress in South Africa.
