=== COVID-19 vaccine exemptions === In October 2021, Broglio released a statement supporting the military's granting of exemptions from COVID-19 vaccination mandates on the basis of service members' conscience-based objections.<ref>{{cite news |last1=Howe |first1=Elizabeth |date=October 12, 2021 |title=Catholic Troops Can Refuse COVID Vaccine, Archbishop Declares |language=en |work=Defense One |url=https://www.defenseone.com/policy/2021/10/catholic-troops-can-refuse-covid-vaccine-archbishop-declares/186056/}}</ref>
=== LGBT personnel in the military === Broglio opposed the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell policy from 1993 to 2011 that regulated service by LGBT personnel in the U.S. military. In 2013, he opposed the Pentagon's granting the same benefits to same-sex married couples as to other married couples.<ref>{{Cite web |last=CNA |title=Archbishops decry military gay benefits plan |url=https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/26597/archbishops-decry-military-gay-benefits-plan |access-date=2022-08-25 |website=Catholic News Agency |language=en}}</ref> He also supported the Trump administration's ban on transgender individuals serving in the military.<ref name="Case" />
=== Views on sex abuse scandals === In response to a letter from a military spouse complaining about a homily delivered in a base service, Broglio wrote:<blockquote>There is no question that the crisis of sexual abuse by priests in the USA is directly related to homosexuality ... [Ninety percent] of those abused were boys aged 12 and over. That is no longer pedophilia.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2018-09-10 |title=Air Force Chaplain Under Investigation For Blaming 'Effeminate' Gay Priests For Church Abuse Scandals |url=https://taskandpurpose.com/news/air-force-chaplain-church-abuse-scandals/ |access-date=2022-08-25 |website=Task & Purpose |language=en-US |archive-date=2020-08-13 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200813004239/https://taskandpurpose.com/news/air-force-chaplain-church-abuse-scandals/ |url-status=dead }}</ref></blockquote>

=== Greenland, boat strikes, and morality === In 2026, in response to Donald Trump's proposal to seize Greenland by force, Broglio expressed concern. He noted that Greenland is a territory of Denmark, and stated that service members were morally justified in refusing orders that conflicted with their consciences. He also criticized the strikes on boats allegedly carrying drugs in 2025, emphasizing that the "intentional killing of noncombatants" is impermissible and that orders to deliberately kill survivors who posed no immediate threat were illegal and immoral.<ref>{{cite news |last1=Suliman |first1=Adela |last2=Faiola |first2=Anthony |last3=Brown |first3=Matthew Hay |title='Morally acceptable' for U.S. troops to disobey orders, archbishop says |url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2026/01/20/us-trump-greenland-military-church-disobey/ |access-date=22 January 2026 |work=The Washington Post |date=20 January 2026}}</ref>
