Orbos hails from the province of Pangasinan and is the brother of former Executive Secretary and Congressman Oscar Orbos and noted Catholic priest Jerry Orbos.<ref name="orbos"/><ref name="tim">{{cite web|url=http://thestandard.com.ph/news/-main-stories/top-stories/215278/mmda-learns-from-fvr.html |title=MMDA learns from FVR |publisher=The Standard |author=Philippine News Agency |date=September 5, 2016 |accessdate=September 25, 2016}}</ref> He has also previously worked as Undersecretary for the Office of the President and owned several businesses in the past including the Pangasinan Presidents (later renamed Pangasinan Waves) franchise team in the now-defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association.<ref name="orbos"/><ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.philstar.com/sports/146552/tuason-welcomes-back-orbos-group-mba |title=Tuason welcomes back Orbos group to MBA |publisher=The Philippine Star |author=Villar, J. |date=January 10, 2002 |accessdate=September 25, 2016}}</ref> He is also an alumnus from Massachusetts Institute Of Technology, Sloan School of Management.
