'''Thermaceae''' is a family of bacteria belonging to the phylum Deinococcota. It is the only family in the order '''Thermales'''.<ref name="rainey">{{cite book |title=''Thermales'' ord. nov. |author1=Fred A. Members of the order ''Thermales'' can be distinguished from all other bacteria through molecular signatures consisting of conserved signature indels (CSIs) and conserved signature proteins (CSPs) that are exclusively present in members of this order. Specifically, six CSIs were identified in the following proteins: DNA topoisomerase I, ABC transporter permease, citrate synthase, phosphoribosylformylglycinamidine synthase, pyruvate dehydrogenase and alpha-glucan phosphorylase.<ref name=":0">{{Cite journal|last1=Ho|first1=Jonathan|last2=Adeolu|first2=Mobolaji|last3=Khadka|first3=Bijendra|last4=Gupta|first4=Radhey S.|date=October 2016|title=Identification of distinctive molecular traits that are characteristic of the phylum "Deinococcus-Thermus" and distinguish its main constituent groups|url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.syapm.2016.07.003|journal=Systematic and Applied Microbiology|volume=39|issue=7|pages=453–463|doi=10.1016/j.syapm.2016.07.003|pmid=27506333|issn=0723-2020|url-access=subscription}}</ref> 51 CSPs were also found to be exclusively shared by members of this order.<ref name=":0" />
In addition, a 76-aminoacid CSI is present in the protein SecA preprotein translocase which is specific to all members of the order ''Thermales'' as well as ''Hydrogenibacillus schlegelii'' (also an thermophilic species).<ref name=":1">{{Cite journal|last1=Khadka|first1=Bijendra|last2=Persaud|first2=Dhillon|last3=Gupta|first3=Radhey S.|date=2019-12-29|title=Novel Sequence Feature of SecA Translocase Protein Unique to the Thermophilic Bacteria: Bioinformatics Analyses to Investigate Their Potential Roles|journal=Microorganisms|volume=8|issue=1|pages=59|doi=10.3390/microorganisms8010059|pmid=31905784|issn=2076-2607|pmc=7023208|doi-access=free}}</ref> Based on studies on other CSIs and CSPs, it is likely that some of these CSIs and CSPs could have implications in the thermophilic phenotype of ''Thermales'' species.<ref name=":1" />
