Tal Ordell

Ordell was probably born in Calcutta, India, seventh child of Victorian-born parents William Odell Raymond Buntine, drover, and his wife Susanna, née Mawley.<ref>{{Cite book|url=https://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/ordell-talone-tal-7915|title=Australian Dictionary of Biography|chapter=Talone (Tal) Ordell (1880–1948) |publisher=National Centre of Biography, Australian National University}}</ref> He worked extensively on stage and screen as an actor in the 1910s and 1920s, playing Dad Rudd twice for Raymond Longford and Dad Hayseed – a similar role – three times for Beaumont Smith.<ref name="hay">{{cite magazine|magazine=Filmink|first=Stephen|last=Vagg|url=https://www.filmink.com.au/forgotten-australian-films-the-hayseeds/|title=Forgotten Australian Films: The Hayseeds|date=3 September 2025|access-date=3 September 2025}}</ref> He was the original "Ginger Mick" in the stage version of ''The Sentimental Bloke''. He turned director with ''The Kid Stakes'' (1927), based on the cartoon character Fatty Finn.
