'''''Taking Fire''''' is a documentary series produced for Discovery Channel in which members of the 101st Airborne Division filmed their deployment in Afghanistan largely through the use of helmet cameras and hand-held cameras. The filming took place in the Korangal Valley; in order to avoid compromising mission integrity, the United States military reviewed all footage of the series prior to its publication by Discovery.<ref>{{Cite news |last=Galas |first=Marj |date=7 October 2016 |title=Discovery's 'Taking Fire' Offers New Perspective With Helmet-Cam Footage |work=Variety |url=https://variety.com/2016/artisans/production/discovery-war-documentary-taking-fire-1201878302/}}</ref> The documentary captured video of American soldiers in combat against the Taliban in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as well as descriptions from members of the 101st Airborne regarding their comrades killed in action and the military operations in which the Division participated.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/sep/11/taking-fire-discovery-shows-american-soldiers-patr/|title='Taking Fire' on Discovery shows American soldiers on patrol in Afghanistan|website=The Washington Times |access-date=2016-09-18}}</ref><ref>{{Cite news|url=https://www.wsj.com/articles/discovery-channels-new-war-series-continues-its-makeover-1473672601|title=Discovery Channel's New War Series Continues Its Makeover|last=Flint|first=Joe|date=2016-09-12|newspaper=Wall Street Journal|issn=0099-9660|access-date=2016-09-18}}</ref>
