The religion's headquarters are located in Daejeon,<ref name=lcr20>Lee Chi-ran, p. 20</ref> where Suwun himself moved in 1829 after having preached in Seoul since 1823.<ref name=lcr20/> The religion focuses on the worship of ''Okhwangsangje Haneullim'' (the "Great Jade Emperor of Heaven"),<ref name=lcr20/> in order to make the earth a paradise through the reconnection to the One.<ref name=lcr20/> An important symbol of the faith is ''Gungeul'' ("Archer Bird").<ref name=lcr20/> The doctrine includes belief in the Maitreya.<ref>Lee Chi-ran, pp. 20-21</ref>
