== Biography == Sun was born in Dacheng County, Zhili (now Hebei), in 1926.<ref name="ra">{{cite news |author1=Yue Huairang ({{lang|zh|岳怀让}}) |url=https://www.thepaper.cn/newsDetail_forward_20305615?commTag=true |script-title=zh:中央警卫局原副局长兼中央警卫团团长孙勇逝世，享年96岁 |work=thepaper |date=15 October 2022 |access-date=10 May 2024 |language=zh}}</ref> He joined the Eighth Route Army in August 1938 and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in October 1945.<ref name="ra"/> During the Chinese Civil War, he served as a security guard of Mao Zedong and Zhu De.<ref name="ra"/> In 1978, he became a security guard of Deng Xiaoping.<ref name="ra"/> In 1982, he was promoted to commander of the Central Guard Regiment, and served until 1994.<ref name="ra"/>
Sun was promoted to the rank of major general (''shaojiang'') in 1988 and lieutenant general (''zhongjiang'') in 1991.<ref name="ra"/>
On 13 October 2022, Sun died in Beijing, at the age of 96.<ref name="ra"/>
