==Design and development== The engine is based upon the Subaru EJ 22 automotive engine. It is a four-cylinder four-stroke, {{convert|2200|cc|cuin|1|abbr=on}}, liquid-cooled, gasoline engine design, with a belt-type reduction drive with a reduction ratio of 2.2:1. It employs electronic ignition and produces {{convert|180|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} at 5900 rpm.<ref name="WDLA11"/>

The company seems to have gone out of business about 2008 and production ended.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://stratus2000.homestead.com/ |title=Stratus 2000 |website=Internet Archive Wayback Machine |access-date=1 July 2015}}{{cbignore}}</ref> <!-- ==Operational history== --> <!-- ==Variants== --> <!-- ==Applications== --> <!-- ==Survivors== --> <!-- Engines on display== -->
