Upon completion of secondary school, he attended Langside College in Glasgow for a year before being accepted into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). At RSAMD, he was signed by a London talent agent and moved to the city after completing school.<ref name=":0" />
