Safin played for Uzbekistan's national team in the [[Chess Olympiad]]s of 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2008, in the [[World Team Chess Championship]] 2001 and in the [[Asian Team Chess Championship]]s of 1995 and 2003.
