'''''Ship of Light''''' is the third album by the Finnish ambient pop band Husky Rescue. It was first released by Catskills Records in January 2010. A special edition of the album was released in April 2011 with a box set designed by Kustaa Saksi including five new bonus tracks and a DVD of live footage and music videos. Three songs were mixed in Sweden with Niklas Flyckt, whose previous work include Britney Spears’ song Toxic. The music video for the single ''They are Coming'' directed by Pete Riski won a Muuvi Award in 2009 by IFPI Finland,<ref>{{cite web|title=Muuvi palkinnon voittajat|url=http://www.ifpi.fi/palkinnot/muuvit/muuvi-palkinnon-voittajat|publisher=IFPI Finland|accessdate=24 March 2012|archive-date=20 August 2010|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100820131141/http://www.ifpi.fi/palkinnot/muuvit/muuvi-palkinnon-voittajat|url-status=dead}}</ref> and director Antony Bentley received an honorary mention for the music video of ''Fast Lane'' at Oulu Music Video Festival in 2011.<ref>{{cite web|title=Oulu Music Video Festival Pumpeli Award|url=http://www.omvf.net/fi/ajankohtaista/2011/kultapumpeli-henna-riikoselle-olavi-uusivirran-syd%C3%A4nmaa-videosta|publisher=OMVF|accessdate=24 March 2012|archive-date=4 March 2016|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160304102258/http://www.omvf.net/fi/ajankohtaista/2011/kultapumpeli-henna-riikoselle-olavi-uusivirran-syd%C3%A4nmaa-videosta|url-status=dead}}</ref>

== Inspiration and recording ==

The title of the album refers to a UFO sighting Marko Nyberg witnessed near his home one night, but also the feeling of transference and escapism.<ref>{{cite web|last=Oberman|first=Jameela|title=Husky Rescue|url=http://disordermagazine.com/4413/music/|publisher=Disorder Magazine|accessdate=24 March 2012}}</ref> The music was inspired by nature and recorded partly in a forest at Lake Bodom, an unsolved murder site in the early sixties in Finland. The band wandered in the fields in the night and during the day recorded the tracks with Reeta-Leena singing lying down on an old iron bed in a cottage of a hippie friend of theirs.<ref>{{cite web|last=Ingram|first=Jodie|title=Interview: Husky Rescue|url=http://www.planetnotion.com/2011/04/19/interview-husky-rescue/|publisher=Planet Notion|accessdate=24 March 2012}}</ref> Featuring Jari Salo, one half of the duo Pepe Deluxé and a long-time friend of Marko's, the album was met with positive reviews in the media, such as ''The Guardian'' giving it four out of five stars and comparing the sound to "the kind of adult pop that Air were promising us with their first album",<ref>{{cite news |last=Hann |first=Michael |url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2010/jan/21/husky-rescue-ship-of-light |title=Husky Rescue: Ship of Light |work=The Guardian |publisher=guardian.co.uk |date=21 January 2010 |accessdate=6 October 2010 |location=London}}</ref> or ''The Sunday Times'' naming the album CD of the week and rating it four stars.<ref>{{cite web |last=Edwards |first=Mark |url=http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/culture/music/article196827.ece |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150610222038/http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/culture/music/article196827.ece |url-status=dead |archive-date=June 10, 2015 |title=Husky Rescue: Ship of Light |work=The Sunday Times |publisher=Times Newspapers |accessdate=8 March 2012}}</ref>
