===2016 Olympics===

Tutkhalyan was named to the Russian Olympic team after [[Ksenia Afanasyeva]]'s health problems relegated the latter gymnast to alternate and later forced her retirement from gymnastics.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://thegymter.net/2016/07/21/shelgunova-replaces-afanasyeva-as-alternate/|title = Shelgunova Replaces Afanasyeva as Alternate|date = 21 July 2016}}</ref> In qualifications, Tutkhalyan competed the all-around and qualified in 4th place to the all-around final with a score of 58.207.<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2016/rio2.html |title=Games of the 31st Olympiad Rio de Janeiro 2016 Aug 6-21 |access-date=31 August 2016 |archive-date=13 September 2016 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160913100739/http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2016/rio2.html }}</ref> In the team final, she contributed a beam score of 14.766 and a floor score of 13.766 to the Russian team's silver medal finish.<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2016/wag/teamsfinal.pdf |title=Artistic Gymnastics Women's Team Final |author=<!-- not stated --> |website=GymnasticsResults.com |date=9 August 2016 |access-date=11 June 2025 |archive-date=10 September 2016 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160910112021/http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2016/wag/teamsfinal.pdf |url-status=dead}}</ref>

In the all-around final, competing in the top group, Tutkhalyan began well with a vault score of 14.866 and a bars score of 15.033, and it appeared at that point that Seda would challenge her teammate Aliya Mustafina for a surprise bronze medal. However, these hopes began to dissipate on the beam, when she fell on her double-pike dismount after a mostly clean routine, receiving a score of 13.800, and multiple falls on floor, her last apparatus, left her with 10.966 on that event and a total all-around score of 54.665 for 22nd place.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2016/rio.html|title = Games of the 31st Olympiad, Rio de Janeiro}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://thegymter.net/2016/08/23/russia-surprises-with-team-silver/|title = Russia Surprises with Team Silver|date = 23 August 2016}}</ref> She had not made any event finals, although she was second reserve for the vault final.<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2016/afday1.pdf |title=Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus Final |author=<!-- not stated --> |date=14 August 2016 |website=GymnasticsResults.com |access-date=11 June 2025 |archive-date=13 September 2016 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160913100841/http://www.gymnasticsresults.com/olympics/2016/afday1.pdf |url-status=dead}}</ref>
