'''HSV ''Sea Slice''''' was an experimental vessel, built by Lockheed Martin,<ref name=DoDSesSlice> {{cite news |url=http://www.defenselink.mil/transformation/images/photos/photo_archive/index_2005-12.html |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20060106160125/http://www.defenselink.mil/transformation/images/photos/photo_archive/index_2005-12.html |url-status=dead |archive-date=6 January 2006 |title=Experimental Sea Slice |publisher=Department of Defense |last=Baddorf |first=Zack |date=7 June 2005 |accessdate=2008-02-01 }}</ref> for the United States Navy, later used in commercial service.

==History== Based on a variant of the SWATH hull design, known as "SLICE," ''Sea Slice'' is characterized by four teardrop-shaped submerged hulls—double the number seen on most previous designs. The design reduces waves and drag, which allows a SWATH vessel to "...operate at higher speeds while retaining their characteristic low motions in a seaway".<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.navy.mil/view_single.asp?id=30299 |archive-url=https://archive.today/20120805055441/http://www.navy.mil/view_single.asp?id=30299 |url-status=dead |archive-date=5 August 2012 |title=Navy.mil – View Image |author=Zack Baddorf |date=30 November 2005 |publisher=United States Navy}}</ref> Designed for operation in the same area as, and to mount similar armament to, a littoral combat ship-type corvette,<ref>{{cite web |publisher=GlobalSecurity.org |url=https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/sea-slice.htm |title=Sea SLICE |accessdate=11 June 2009}}</ref> the planned weapon options included the Millennium Gun and the NetFires System, intended to launch Lockheed's (now cancelled) Loitering Attack Munition.

''Sea Slice'' was withdrawn from Navy service and made available for purchase for civilian use,<ref>{{cite web |website=Jalopnik |url=https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/you-can-buy-this-crazy-experimental-littoral-combat-shi-1683431253 |title=You Can Buy This Crazy Experimental Littoral Combat Ship For $180,000! |date=3 February 2015 |accessdate=7 April 2016}}</ref> and purchased by Danish company, Advanced Offshore Solutions ApS, for conversion to a wind farm support vessel.<ref>{{cite news|title=Sea Slice to go to work as wind farm support vessel|url=http://www.marinelog.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=10065:sea-slice-to-go-to-work-as-wind-farm-support-vessel&Itemid=231|accessdate=16 November 2015|work=MarineLog|date=12 November 2015}}</ref><ref name=Equasis>{{cite web|title=Equasis: Ship Search|url=http://www.equasis.org/EquasisWeb/restricted/ShipSearch?fs=ShipInfo|publisher=French Ministry for Transport|accessdate=16 November 2015|archive-date=1 April 2016|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160401030039/http://www.equasis.org/EquasisWeb/restricted/ShipSearch?fs=ShipInfo|url-status=dead}}</ref>

In May 2019 the vessel was scrapped in Esbjerg, Denmark after a failed attempt to repair the engine.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.jv.dk/artikel/2702987|title=Eksperimentelt krigsskib med tidligere Baywatch-rolle bliver nu skrottet i Esbjerg|date=2019-04-05|website=jv.dk|language=da|access-date=2019-05-14}}</ref> thumb|Sea Slice being scrapped in Esbjerg, Denmark
