== History == Samyang Comtech was founded on 22 December 1962 under the name Oriental Industry ({{Korean |hangul=오리엔탈공업 |rr=Oliental Gongeop}}) and In 1973, the company was designated as a defense contractor by the government.<ref name="Samyang Comtech History" /><ref name="nett 20160426" />

In 1990, the R&D Laboratory was established for the development of new products, and in May 1997, the first domestic bulletproof helmet and bulletproof vest were developed for the South Korean military.<ref name="Samyang Comtech History" />

In June 1998, it began producing Korean Special Armor Plate (KSAP), the first domestic composite armor for main battle tanks developed for the K1A1.<ref name="nett 20160426" />
