The following is a list of characters introduced in 2020, by order of first appearance. All characters are introduced by series producer Iain MacLeod. The first character to be introduced is [[#Danny Tomlinson|Danny Tomlinson]] (Dylan Brady), a love interest of [[James Bailey (Coronation Street)|James Bailey]] (Nathan Graham), in February. In March, [[#Arthur Medwin|Arthur Medwin]] ([[Paul Copley]]) was introduced as a love interest for [[Evelyn Plummer]] ([[Maureen Lipman]]), and April saw the arrival of an old friend of [[Johnny Connor (Coronation Street)|Johnny Connor]] ([[Richard Hawley (actor)|Richard Hawley]]), [[#Scott Emberton|Scott Emberton]] (Tom Roberts), as well as the ex-wife of [[Rick Neelan]] ([[Greg Wood (actor)|Greg Wood]]), [[#Laura Neelan|Laura Neelan]] (Kel Allen).
