== Career == In 1985, Fankhauser became the principal clarinetist of the Municipal Theatre of Klagenfurt and the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra.<ref name="vcc" /> He was also the principal clarinetist of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.<ref name="Franz Schubert Institut für Blas- und Schlaginstrumente in der Musikpädagogik 2019" /> He was principal clarinetist for the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra for the 1993–94 season.<ref name="vcc" /> He has toured with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic, and has soloed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra i Pomeriggi Musicali.<ref name="vcc" /> He has been a member of the Vienna Clarinet Connection since 1999.<ref name="clariarte">{{cite web|url=http://www.clariarte.at/en/tutors/fankhauser.html|title=Tutors|publisher=ClariArte|accessdate=5 August 2009|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110706090602/http://www.clariarte.at/en/tutors/fankhauser.html|archivedate=6 July 2011}}</ref>
