==Career==

Kent began as a rapid screenwriter for [[Sam Katzman]] at Columbia.<ref>p.109 Weaver, Tom ''A Sci-fi Swarm and Horror Horde: Interviews with 62 Filmmakers'' McFarland</ref> For seven years he worked as a writer and story editor at Columbia.

He then became a producer for [[Edward Small]].<ref>{{Cite news|title=Warners Buys No. 1 Seller, 'Nun's Story'; Satire Will Be Staged|author=Scheuer, Philip K.|work=Los Angeles Times|date=November 1, 1956|page=C15}}</ref> He used the pseudonym James B. Gordon for some of his work,

According to ''Filmink'' Kent "wasn’t bad creating female characters for these sort of movies (at least compared to others made around this time)."<ref name="filmink">{{cite magazine|magazine=Filmink|first=Stephen|last=Vagg|url=https://www.filmink.com.au/helena-carter-appreciation/|title=Helena Carter: An Appreciation|date=February 14, 2020}}</ref>

He later formed his own production company, and Admiral Productions together with [[Grant Whytock]] and [[Edward Small]]. Admiral produced two horror films with [[Vincent Price]] and four Westerns with [[Audie Murphy]].
