==Playing career== McCoy spent his first two years playing at Clackamas Community College before transferring to Dakota Wesleyan University. ==Coaching career== After graduating from Dakota Wesleyan, McCoy got his first job as an assistant at Dakota Wesleyan in 2003. McCoy led Niagara to its first MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024, for which he would earn MAAC Coach of the Year honors. He amassed 299 wins in his 16 seasons at Niagara, leaving as the school's all-time winningest coach.
