== Life and career == Raleigh Holden Brown was born on December 10, 1921, in Shreveport, Louisiana.<ref name=":0" /> Brown's ancestry was from Tennessee, where also lived much of his early life.<ref name="obit" /> He graduated with a B.S. degree from Middle Tennessee State College in 1947;<ref name=":0">{{Cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=duA7AQAAIAAJ&q=%22raleigh+brown%22+shreveport |title=The Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory |date=1959 |publisher=Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, Incorporated |pages=4344 |language=en}}</ref> and attended Vanderbilt University Law School and Southern Methodist University Law School for his legal education.<ref name=":0" />
