On 2 September 1979, Kurds of the village were reported to have been massacred by the recruits of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Simply all the genocides|url=http://www.kmmk.info/en/1977|publisher=Kurdistan Human Rights Association|language=en-US|access-date=2020-05-01}}</ref> The Qarna massacre led to a shock among the Kurdish population.
