It was originally serialized across nine non-consecutive issues of Clowes's alternative comic book ''Eightball'',<ref name="1a">{{cite web |last=Parille |first=Ken |year=1995 |title=List of Eightball contents |url=https://core.ecu.edu/parillek/dctitles.htm |accessdate=December 22, 2023 |publisher=East Carolina University}}</ref> and was later collected by Fantagraphics Books with an introduction by Crispin Glover.

''Pussey!'' tells the satirical story of a comic book artist named Dan Pussey, following him from his childhood years, through his successful career and into aged obscurity.
