Fauna of Saudi Arabia v. 12: 382-387.</ref> It is a marine, deep water-dwelling eel which is known from the Indo-Western Pacific, including the Gulf of Aden and the Lord Howe Seamount Chain. It is known to dwell at a depth range of {{convert|2227|to|2325|m|ft}}. Males can reach a maximum total length of {{convert|51.2|cm|in}}.<ref name="Fishbase"/>
