== Life == Power was educated at [[St John's College, Waterford]] and [[St Patrick's College, Maynooth]].<ref name=Canning>{{cite book | last=Canning | first= Bernard| author-link= | title= Bishops of Ireland 1870-1987| location= [[Ballyshannon]] | publisher= [[Donegal Democrat]]| pages=302| year=1988 | isbn= 1870963008}}</ref> After a curacy at [[Clonmel]], he was on the staff of St John's from 1858 until 1879.<ref name=Canning /> Power was [[parish priest]] at [[Dungarvan]] from 1879 until 1886 when he was ordained [[Coadjutor bishop]] of [[Bishop of Waterford and Lismore|Waterford and Lismore]] with the right of succession.
