Steindl worked for a time in [[Edinburgh Council]] youth programmes before joining [[Cricket Scotland]] as youth development manager in 2006, replacing former teammate [[Andy Tennant (cricketer)|Andy Tennant]].<ref name="cricinfo"/> After Scotland's senior coach, [[Peter Drinnen]], resigned in July 2007, he and Tennant took over the team on an interim basis.<ref>(6 July 2007).
