He finished sixth at the 1985 World Cup,<ref>[http://www.athleticsdb.com/1985-world-cup-athletics.php Results]</ref> won the bronze medal at the 1985 Pacific Conference Games,<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.gbrathletics.com/ic/pcg.htm|title=Pacific Conference Games|work=GBR Athletics|publisher=Athletics Weekly|accessdate=7 November 2016}}</ref> the silver medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games,<ref name=common>{{cite web|url=http://www.gbrathletics.com/ic/cg.htm|title=Commonwealth Games Medallists - Athletics (Men)|work=GBR Athletics|publisher=Athletics Weekly|accessdate=7 November 2016}}</ref> finished fifth at the 1989 World Cup<ref>[http://www.athleticsdb.com/1989-world-cup-athletics.php Results]</ref> and won the bronze medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.<ref name=common/>

Nandapi became Australian champion in the years 1983–1987.
